Top 5 Peekskill: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
The first group of my Top 5 series, arguably the most important of all!
I love everything Peekskill, the people, the food, the community, the nature… everything! I have been wanting to share some of the greatest parts of this lovely city and it’s surrounding area for a while, so I thought I’d kick off the new year/decade with some Top 5 lists!
Easily, one of the best parts of Peekskill is the food scene, so why not start with it?!
Below are my Top 5 best places to grab a bite, a coffee, or have a date night.
Gambas al Ajillo — Source
Over the past year, they’ve completely overhauled their cocktail menu, which has become one of their best features besides the food. Whenever our family is in town, they make sure we have dinner here at least one of the nights, and it’s also our first choice for going out to dinner for a date night or with friends.
Some of our favorite dishes are:
Gambas al Ajillo
Shrimp in a rich, smoky, garlic sauce, served in an earthenware dish with a side of warm crusty bread to sop up the delicious sauce that you won’t want to leave behind.
Patatas Bravas
Classic, crispy fried potatoes drizzled with garlic aioli, and served with a rich tomato sauce.

Boquerones
A traditional cold dish of fresh Spanish Sardines, served with peppers, a green vinaigrette, and crostini.
Arugula Salad
Simple and delicious salad comprised of arugula and sliced avocado. Drizzled with balsamic and parsley vinaigrette.
BRUNCH:
Smoked Salmon Tostada
Crab Cake Eggs Benedict
Other dishes worth checking out: Pulpo a la Parilla, Seafood Empanada, Chorizo con Camarones, and Chorizo Burger.
Sangria
Choose from red, rose, or white — by the pitcher or glass.
IV Bloody Mary
Made with their housemade habañero infused tequila
The cocktail menu is constantly changing up so stop by to try something special. Their bartender Justin will happily give you a recommendation based on your tastes!
Waffle, hot latte, classico panini, chai latte — Source
It’s hard to not put Peekskill Coffee House at the top of this list, seeing that it’s one of the most iconic and well-known places in our lovely city of Peekskill! I can’t count on my hands how many times I’ve been here, whether for breakfast, lunch, or just a quick stop for an iced chai latte. I regularly see friends and neighbors here, and once the lovely staff knows your name, it feels pretty special ;)
Favorites are the Classico panini, the Greek Goddess crepe, Iced Chai latte (or matcha) with oat milk. I am not a coffee drinker, but I have heard great things from friends and family about the Caramel frappé, and the iced mocha. They also have started roasted their own specialty coffee bean which is pretty awesome. They also have Peaceful Provisions’ amazing vegan donuts throughout the week! 🤤
Whether having a quick business chat, or wanting to get out of the house to get some work done surrounded by people, Peekskill coffee is one of the most down-to-earth AND coolest places around.

Ramenesque — Japanese & Ramen
Dan dan ramen with tofu — Source
Ramenesque is a hands-down, absolute favorite place for dinner. Their simple and concise menu is expertly created and their food is consistent and delicious. Authentic ramen and a great staff, this place is warm, welcoming, and always leaves us with a happy and full belly. My go-to dish is the kimchi ramen, my husband the Dan Dan Ramen, and their veggie gyoza!
Taco trio — Source
Mercado Azteca — Authentic Mexican Cuisine
Delicious, high quality, authentic Mexican Cuisine. Love the tacos, and their shrimp a la Mexicana served with rice and beans and tortillas. Great for take-out, and you can order online for delivery. Currently offering a free order of churros by ordering through their site!
Veggie burger & Hill Farmstead Edward Pale Ale — Source
Birdsall House — American Gastropub
This is a super popular hub for locals and visitors alike. A great craft-beer menu with delicious food, this is one of our favorites. There are tons of non-meat-eating options for everyone which is always a win, +1 for the Beyond burger served just like a regular ole burger (nothing fancy). They regularly have live music in their large courtyard and lots of fun events. A really comfy and welcoming place.
The hardest part of this series is picking a top 5 out of the tons of great places in Peekskill. There are so many other lovely places that are worth checking out and I look forward to writing and sharing about them in the future! 😊
